It’s on again, Sydney’s contemporary visual arts festival from 1 March – 31 March 2011. Visit the website www.artmonthsydney.com for full list of events. It’s a month long event that covers 4 precincts in Sydney: 1) Danks St, Waterloo & Redferen 2) Chippendale, Marrickville, Newtown & CBD 3) Darlinghurst, Surry Hills & Potts Point and last 4) Paddington & Woollahra. Over 80 galleries and venues particpate in the festival with more than 120 exhibitions throughout. Some key highlights for me include:
Art After Work: Head on down to one of the many ART BARS for a mix of art, drink and music courtesy of FBI DJs. Art Cycle: Finally a use for the new cycle ways through Sydney :P Art Cycle in conjunction with the City of Sydney Council for the first time are offering bike tours of the 4 precincts. It is a free guided bike tour of the art galleries, studios and street art.
Late Nights with Annie Leibovitz: The MCA opens the doors until 8.30pm for Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer's Life 1990-2005 on the following dates: Thursday, 3 March, Thursday, 10 March, Thursday, 17 March, Thursday, 24 March & Thursday, 31 March
