Asian Tapas: Ho Mei Surry Hills

Walking around Surry Hills I came across a restaurant that positions itself as an Asian Tapas bar.

What does this mean exactly? From what I can tell and saw as diners enjoyed their meals, it's essentially modernised Yum Cha with bigger portions that are designed to share with the usual Yum Cha delights like Har Gow, Dim Sum and more.

 

Speaking with a few diners, they say that the food looks simple and not that interesting, however the flavours, quality of produce and the precision cooking one diner compared to Billy Kwong... big call.

 

I haven't been but clearly amazing reviews from diners and equally exciting reviews on line.
